The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) commissioned a team of nine adaptive storytellers from Western iMedia to design and produce comprehensive multiplatform editorial coverage of the 66th World Newspaper Congress, 21st World Editors Forum and 24th World Advertising Forum in Torino, Italy, in June 2014.
The team worked in support of the WAN-IFRA Publications Department director and staff. Besides exposing international audiences in excess of 500,000 users to the content created by these WKU-trained fusion journalists, our work also served as a case study and demonstration of innovative editorial technologies and techniques.
Working on site for a week in Italy, the team was distributed across all three conference venues producing a non-stop stream of narrative text, nearly 1,000 high-quality photos including of the annual Golden Pen Award, and several dozen video packages.
The primary publishing location for the content was the wan-ifra.org website. Some material was also used in the organization’s World News Publishing Focus magazine later in the year.
